Description

The EB-131 is a single board, comprehensive instructional module designed to teach basic concepts of operational amplifiers to technology students.

The module can be operated as a stand-alone unit or integrated to the EB-2000 Computer Managed Laboratory.

Objectives

  • Obtain the transfer characteristic curve of the noninverting comparator

  • Obtain the input and output waveforms of the window comparator

  • Obtain the transfer curve of the window comparator

  • Use the oscilloscope to obtain the input and output waveforms of an integrator

  • Determine how a change in the value of the feedback capacitor changes the output waveform

  • Determine how a change in the feedback capacitor changes the gain of the integrator

  • Use an oscilloscope to obtain the input and output waveforms of a differentiator

  • Determine how changes in the value of R change the gain

  • Measure the input and output voltages at various frequencies

  • Calculate the gain from measured values for various frequencies

  • Plot the frequency response curve on semi-logarithmic paper for the low pass filter

  • Determine the half-power (or break) frequency from the graph of the low pass filter

  • Compare the break frequency obtained from the graph with the calculated value

  • Determine the half-power (or break) frequencies of the band pass filter from the graph

  • Determine the center frequency (fc) from the graph

  • Determine the bandwidth from the graph

  • Obtain the output waveform of the regenerative oscilloscope

  • Use the oscilloscope to display the input-output transfer curve of the regenerative comparator

  • Obtain the output waveform of the square wave generator

  • Use the oscilloscope to obtain the frequency of the square wave generator

  • Use the oscilloscope to determine the correct output voltage waveforms of each stage

  • Locate faulty stages by comparing the actual output waveforms with correct output waveforms

Recommended Experiments

  1. Comparators

  2. Integrators

  3. Differentiators

  4. Low and Band Pass filter

  5. Regenerative Comparators (Schmitt Trigger) - Square wave generator

  6. Troubleshooting
