Description

The EB-114 is a single board, comprehensive instructional module designed to teach basic concepts of Optoelectric Semiconductors to technology students.

The module can be operated as a stand-alone unit or integrated to EB-2000 Computer Managed Laboratory.

Objectives

  • Understand the theoretical explanation of the LDR (Light Dependent sister), its structure and characteristics.

  • Assemble the circuits for drawing the LDR characteristics as function of light intensity.

  • Use the oscilloscope to obtain the LDR characteristics Be familiar with LDR applications

  • Understand the theoretical explanation of the PHOTODIODE, its structure and characteristics

  • Assemble the circuits for drawing the PHOTODIODE characteristics as function of light intensity

  • Use the oscilloscope to obtain the PHOTODIODE characteristics

  • Be familiar with the photovoltaic effect

  • Be familiar with the PHOTODIODE’s main applications

  • Understand the theoretical explanation of the PHOTOTRANSISTOR, the structure and its characteristics

  • Assemble the circuits for drawing the PHOTOTRANSISTOR characteristics

  • Understand the phototransistor circuits, operating as an lifier and in switching mode <

  • Use the oscilloscope to obtain the PHOTOTRANSISTOR characteristics

  • Be familiar with the PHOTOTRANSISTOR applications

  • Understand the theoretical explanation, its structure and its characteristics

  • Assemble the circuits for drawing the LED characteristics

  • Use the oscilloscope to obtain the LED characteristics

  • Be familiar with the LED’s applications

  • Understand the theoretical description of the Incandescent Lamp

  • Understand the description of the Incandescent Lamp according to lamp construction

  • Assemble the circuit for drawing the curve of the lamp’s resistance as function of the voltage applied to the Incandescent Lamp

  • Measure the relative light intensity

  • Understand the principles of operation and basic circuits of numeric displays on decimal and hexadecimal counters

  • Assemble practical circuits using up/down counters and alphanumeric display

  • Understand the theory, structure, and operating principle of the LCD component

  • Understand and be familiar with LCD as an effect of voltage on display quality

  • Effect of backplane frequency on display quality

  • Test the various stages of a relatively complex circuit on the faults in electro-optic circuits

  • Locate the fault within the stage of a circuit
